Larnaca is famous for its beautiful beaches and a wide range of historical sights.

Larnaca is most famous for its beaches and the nightlife that surrounds them, which are the two things that instantly made it a hot spot among tourists. The town boasts gorgeous views of the sea, stunning beaches that offer plenty of recreational activities, and gorgeous parks.

Alongside beautiful views of the sea, you will find a lot of Larnaca’s best restaurants, the Castle, and an easy way to reach Larnaca’s historic centre. Running north of the Castle of Larnaca is the beach in Finikoudes, Larnaca’s main town beach. Running directly down the coast in Larnaca’s town centre, you will find Finikoudes Beach. Lined with bars, cafes, and restaurants, it is easily the tourism centre of Larnaca.

Even if beaches are not your scene, walking along Finikoudes Palm Tree Promenade takes you through several of Larnaca’s best attractions, like the Larnaca Castle, Buyuk Cami Mosque, and the Old Turkish Town in the city. Whether you are interested in exploring the ancient sites of Larnaca or basking in the sunshine at one of its many beaches, you will find a lot to do. While Larnaca is most known for being the place where you can relax on the beach with a drink in your hand, there are still a few cultural sites to explore. Most attractions are located within Larnaca’s compact downtown, and thus are within reach with a short walk.

Easily the most prominent and most popular attraction of all Larnaca is St. Lazarus church. After the Church of St. Lazarus, the most impressive site you should see in Larnaca has to be the seaside hillfort of the city. Located at the southern tip of the beach in Finikoudes, the Larnaka Fortress is a window on the Ottoman history of Larnaca. It was originally a prison, but has been converted into a small archaeological museum, containing finds from across the island, as well as being used as a municipal cultural centre for the city.

Apart from being an excellent collection of landmarks, beaches, and overall special places, Larnaca is also an excellent jumping-off point to explore all of Cyprus, including Ayia Napa, or even northern Cyprus. This place is really like nowhere else, it is well known for having a fantastic local food, lots of history, art, and vibrant nightlife, which you are guaranteed to enjoy during your visit. Cape Qiti beach is an ideal spot to get away from the hustle and bustle of Larnaca and just chill out under the sun. The Church of Agios Lazaros is one of Larnaca’s best tourist attractions, not just because it is a significant religious spot, but because it is unbelievably beautiful.
