Looking for your next travel adventure?
Situated on an island in the St. Lawrence River, Montreal has a lot to offer in any season you choose to visit. With popular attractions, museums and great restaurants, Montreal is a great weekend getaway for couples and families.
Montreal is divided into nineteen principal areas, although most tourists try not to get too far from Mary City. It is often called Canada's Paris, and it is not hard to see why. Mount Royal Park is just outside the city, but if you are looking for the best things to do in Montreal, St. Helens is a short drive south.
Mount Royal Park is one of Montreal's top attractions and one of the most beautiful parks in Montreal. This small hill is part of Mount Royal Park, a gorgeous park designed by the same guy who designed New York City's Central Park. This small hill is located west of downtown Montreal, between the Appalachians and the Laurentian Mountains.
If you want to get lost in a beautiful place surrounded by nature, the Montreal Botanical Gardens is one of the best attractions to visit in Canada.
Visit the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, take a romantic stroll through the Montreal Botanical Gardens, and admire the architecture of Notre-Dame Cathedral. It is also easy to visit Notre Dame Cathedral, one of the best things to do in Montreal, especially if you like a little history. Originally a chapel in the old village of Ville Marie in the 1740s, it is now the magnificent Notre-Dame Basilica in Montreal.
The Notre Dame Basilica alone is a must-see in Canada, and well worth a visit while strolling through Old Montreal. If you love art, even if you do not plan to buy it on your trip, walking is one of the best things to do in Montreal, as well as visiting several well-known art museums. Chateau Ramezay is where you will find some of the finest local and international contemporary art in my favourite city in Canada. Visit one of Montreal's many fantastic museums to learn more about Montreal, the province or Canada.
Visit the underground city of Montreal and take time to visit each exhibit, such as Journey to Space, where you will learn about astronauts and how they lived in space. You will visit iconic restaurants, explore different Montreal neighbourhoods, collect gossip and legends, and sample delicious food.
Visitors can find many things to see and do in and around the Old Port. Vieux-Montreal is where you will find most of the historical sights, as well as the famous waterfront along the Vieux Port (Old Port). It is the centre of the colonial city, and the old buildings make it the most picturesque part of the city.
