On the roof of the Sensukaram Temple there are several jade green sculptures of water snakes, which are known as nagas in Laos. Like many temples in Laos, this is also a working monastery and here you will find classes where the monks are trained and where they learn a range of skills such as painting, modelling, and woodcarving. As a reminder of the wealth of the Laotian royal family, there is no shortage of golden statues and even golden inscriptions on the gate to the main hall of the Wat Xieng Thong congregation. Rich in history, vibrant and artistic, it's worth spending an hour or two exploring this expansive courtyard filled with Laos' religious culture. There are several buildings in the palace complex that you can visit for free, including Kau Pha Bang (a royal temple built to house Phra Bang, Laos' holiest Buddha statue), the Royal Stables, the Royal Theatre, and the architectural collection that houses the royal cars. Besides the Royal Palace Museum, there are other temples worth visiting such as Wat Xieng Thong, Wat Long Khun, and Wat Visunarat. Some of the main temples you shouldn't miss include Wat Xieng Thong, Buddha's Footprint Temple behind Phousi Mountain, Wat Mahathat and Wat Hua Xiang. The most famous temple is called Wat Xieng Thong, built in 1500 and is one of the most beautiful places in Luang Prabang. Wat Xieng Thong is a famous place to relax, meditate and find nirvana, but even if you just visit it, you won't regret seeing its beauty first-hand. The impressive size, aesthetic beauty, cultural significance, and convenient location of Wat Mais make it one of the best places to visit in the pearl of Laos.
