Liechtenstein is one of the nooks of the Alps and has a lot to offer.

There are many opportunities for hikes throughout the country, and you can find hiking maps in Vaduz Tourist Office. Liechtenstein is a mountainous country, so bring good hiking shoes, even if you are not planning on doing any hiking, to Vaduz.

Vaduz is a lovely small town and a resort. Once the oldest city of Liechtenstein, there are many aspects that you will discover about the town and about Liechtenstein. If you are wondering what to do in Vaduz, the most appealing site is, naturally, Vaduz Castle.

Look inside the Liechtenstein Royal House, the capitals best-known landmark, Vaduz Castle. Along the way up the awe-inspiring Vaduz Castle, you will find plenty of information points and signs telling you more about the castle and the Liechtenstein Royal Family itself. Vaduz Castle is unfortunately not open to the public because the Liechtenstein Royal Family still lives here, so visitors to Liechtenstein will have to admire its magnificence from afar. From Liechtenstein Centrum, look to the east and you will see Gutenberg Castle.

The Gutenberg Castle is a twenty-minute walk from Liechtenstein’s capital, and entry into the castle is restricted. You can go south, towards Balzers town, and to Gutenberg Castle -- Liechtenstein’s other castle, and one that you are allowed to visit. Our primary reason for including Balzers in our Liechtenstein visit was to visit Gutenberg Castle.

While the views from the castle are magnificent, one of the more picturesque places to visit is the winery owned by Prince Liechtenstein. In addition to the amazing natural landscapes that you pass by, you can visit some cool historic sites and castles on the Liechtenstein trail. Add in its numerous great hiking trails, Liechtenstein’s small principality has a lot of impressive points of interest and sightseeing spots, including museums, galleries, and castles, and it is easy to understand why Liechtenstein is one of the best places in Europe to visit.

Liechtenstein has museums, picturesque mountain villages, excellent skiing, and gorgeous mountains, much like its larger neighbour, Switzerland. Buch, or Sargans, is near the Liechtenstein capital Vaduz, which is probably the most culturally rich, or tourist-friendly, town in Liechtenstein.

One of the favourite things to do in Liechtenstein, the incredible Castle Vaduz looks like magic, and you will find some amazing views of Vaduz near the base of the castle. No visit to Liechtenstein is ever complete without stopping at the awe-inspiring Vaduz Castle. It is one of those fairy-tale castles where you get to live out your wildest dreams.
