Montenegro is an amazing country full of amazing people.

Montenegro is a very old country, there are many historical areas, monuments, and sites all along the coastline which boat tours show you around and provide information about. Montenegro is one of those fairy-tale places where you can spend an afternoon at the beach, head into the mountains for dinner, then return to one of the scenic Old Towns for sundowners and dinner. No matter whether you love a seaside, dramatic mountains, stunning nature, or historic cities, you can still find something to love about Montenegro.

Known for its towering mountains, sparkling beaches on the Budva Riviera, the winter sports hotspot Zabljak, as well as UNESCOs world heritage-listed Kotor Bay, Montenegro is full of natural and cultural treasures. Yet somehow, Montenegro has somehow managed to squeeze in dramatic mountains and canyons, the lion’s share of the region’s largest lakes, a gorgeous swath of Adriatic coastline, and, of course, the iconic Bay of Kotor. Its amazing position on the Adriatic and its closed border to Croatia has truly made the country a major European travel destination in summer.

It would not be a Montenegro road trip without visiting the most famous Montenegro destination, Kotor. One of the most popular tourist destinations in Montenegro, Kotor Bay, and by extension, the fortress city of Kotor, has so much life and character.

One of the gems in the Bay of Kotor is Perast, a bucolic Adriatic city which has grown into one of Montenegro’s pricier destinations. Located on the Kotor Bay, beautiful Porto Montenegro is filled with top-end shops, fine dining, and, of course, extravagant mega-yachts. Tivat, a coastal city located on the Kotor Bay, may not be the most exciting of the Montenegro cities, but Tivat is well worth visiting because of Porto Montenegro -- a luxury yacht marina.

One of the best places to visit in Montenegro must be Herceg Novi, an ancient coastal city located on the UNESCO-listed entrance of the Kotor Bay. Herceg Novi is one of Montenegro’s oldest cities that holds a rich history, amazing architecture, and several beaches making it one of the most popular places to visit in Montenegro. Due to its medieval architecture and scenic squares and alleys, the Old Town of Kotor is one of the most popular places to visit in Montenegro.

Unlike its neighbouring city of Budva, the historic town of Kotor is historical, more untouched, and much less overcrowded with tourists. Dotted with a magnificent medieval city and a brilliant blue sea, Kotor Bay is one of Montenegro’s most picturesque locations. The jewel in the crown of this coastline is the Old Town of Kotor, an Old Town listed as part of the UNESCO world heritage site, which is situated at the edge of the amazing Kotor Bay. The edge of the amazing Kotor Bay.

Now back in Kotor, a legendary bay, is home to another magnificent city worth exploring on this otherwise pleated coast. The mountains, lakes, Montenegrin Adriatic coastline, and the ancient cities are all breathtakingly beautiful. Whether trekking in a national park or exploring old walled cities on the coast, Montenegro has no shortage of amazing things to do.

Budva, which is also a hotspot for other tourism-related things, has the best emerging nightclub scene in the whole of Montenegro. The coastal resort city of Budva is affectionately known as Montenegro’s Miami for its gorgeous beaches and vibrant nightlife. A flashier (and touristy) version of Kotor, Bar is the most visited place in Montenegro, and is the most popular port for cruise ships during the summer months. Forget the French Riviera, the Montenegro port in Tivat a charming harbour that draws yachts from around the world.
