Netherlands

One of Europe’s most popular tourist destinations offers travellers so much more than its beautiful canals, historic buildings ring, world-class museums, and famous attractions such as the Anne Frank House, Vondelpark and Bloemenmarkt. The Netherlands has so many stunning gardens, picturesque villages, and sights to offer, and the vibrant capital Amsterdam is full of museums highlighting the rich heritage of artists such as Rembrandt and Van Gogh. One of the country's biggest attractions is the Keukenhof Gardens, often called the Garden of Europe or the largest flower garden in the world (Dubai Miracle Gardens is another place to visit in the Netherlands). I love Amsterdam, one of the best capitals in the world. Rotterdam is the second biggest city in the Netherlands and one of the biggest ports in the world. There are so many cool places to visit and exciting things to do but it is difficult where to start. The Netherlands is also one of the best cycling cities in the world and it is quite easy to rent bicycles to travel around. The Anne Frank Museum is one of Amsterdam's most famous attractions and a moving visit. Volendam is by no means a hidden gem and one of the most popular places in the Netherlands. The Houseboat Museum (one of the Quirki museums in neighbouring Amsterdam) is on the water, and this in the city is an enjoyable day trip, especially if you visit the pretty canals. The Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam is not only an ode to one of the greatest artists who ever lived but has also been voted one of the world’s finest museums – so art lovers should not miss it. The museum is located at Museumsplaats Amsterdam Souths, along with many other museums. Surrounded by an elaborate canal system with dozens of islands and hundreds of bridges, most tourists spend their time in the old city centre, enjoying canal cruises, sightseeing, visiting impressive art museums such as the Van Gogh Museum and Rijksmuseum and attending performances at the prestigious Concertgebouw Concert Hall. Delft is famous for its blue and white ceramics and the town of Vermeer, the painter who gave birth to the girl with pearl earrings. Delft is filled with sights and activities: beautiful bars and cafes, picturesque churches, interesting museums, beautiful historical buildings lined with beautiful canals, and beautiful parks. The large network of windmills in Kinderdijk Village in South Holland is of historical and cultural importance and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a popular attraction in the Netherlands. The Gemeentemuseum Den Haag and the Royal Picture Gallery in Mauritshuis are also known for contemporary art exhibitions and are among the most unusual places in the Netherlands. No visit to Holland would be complete without a visit to the capital Amsterdam, but there are many more exciting sights to see throughout the country. Known for its eclectic capital Amsterdam, the Netherlands has more canals and museums than you can ever enter, but you will also find postcards of pretty cities and dynamic cities such as Rotterdam and The Hague. The highlight of every trip to the Netherlands is undoubtedly the Keukenhof garden, also known as the largest garden in Europe and second on this list of the best activities in the Netherlands Major attractions of the National Park Hoge Veluwe include the Kroller Muller Museum, which houses the largest private Van Gogh collection in the world, the Museonder underground museum, one of Europe's most beautiful sculpture gardens and the stunning Jachthuis Sint Hubertus hunting lodge. The city is also home to the oldest national park in the Netherlands, the Naardermeer, which can be visited by boat or guided tours on bicycle or to walk. There are several large historical buildings to visit, including the church of St. John in Sint-Janskerk, built in 1552 with impressive stained glass windows, the Old Town Hall (Oude Stadhuys) built in 1450, making it one of the oldest Dutch Town Halls and the Cheese Scale (Goudse Waag) built in 1667 when the cheese tax was introduced so the scales had to be raised at the correct height. The city also offers some interesting museums such as the Dutch Fortress Museum, the Schuppenmuseum and the Weegschaal Museum. Dordrecht is one of the oldest towns in the Netherlands and with Biesbosch in the backyard, it is a wonderful place to stay and explore. The famous church of Dordrechts is often listed as one of the best sights in the country. The Maas flows through the beautiful and ancient city of Maastricht and is also one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands. The Zaanse Schans is one of the top activities in the Netherlands. Located fifteen kilometres north of Amsterdam, it is a stylish open-air museum where you can stroll through a traditional Dutch village and watch old craftsmen at work.
