Senegal is a country that is rich in culture and tradition.

This tiny country is popular among French tourists for its colonial past, but with its storied history, national parks, and huge coastline, there is plenty of things to see and do in Senegal. While Senegal is usually not on most travelers bucket lists, this country has plenty to do and see.

While you are in the capital Dakar, make sure you check out the gorgeous Lago Rosse (called Lago Rosse in French) located approximately 18 miles outside Dakar. The pink lake, which goes by its proper name of "Retba", is one of the most visited Senegalese places in the world. Due to its peculiar pink color, the extremely salty waters, arrivals from Paris-Dakar, Pink Lake has captured the hearts of the Senegalese people and also a lot of tourists.

Do not miss visiting Saluma Delta National Park, spanning 76,000 hectares of land in Western Senegal. Try and make time for visiting villages such as Kedougou, where you will get to experience how life is in rural Senegal. To really appreciate Senegal, you need to take a walk around the countryside.
