Victoria Falls is a spectacular water cascade

For 15 minutes, glide over the 1,700m-high water curtain that is the Mosi-ao-Tunya, taking in quite different views on both Zimbabwean and Zambian sides in this must-see helicopter tour over mighty Victoria Falls. Its natural beauty has been the catalyst for turning the small towns of Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe) and Livingstone (Zambia) into the biggest tourist centres in Africa. The city of Victoria Falls might be most famous for its fabled waterfall, which is one of the world’s seven natural wonders, but as a gateway to southern Africa’s top safari areas, it is also a vibrant centre that offers much more on offer than just your typical bucket-list of tourist attractions. By comparison, on the Zimbabwean side, Victoria Falls town is 5 minutes by foot across a bridge, 3 minutes to enter a National Park -- check out Hotel Victoria Falls. It is quite easy to travel between Zambia and Zimbabwe as long as you have the KAZA UNIVISA, which allows you to travel on either side several times, and to take day trips into the Chobe National Park in neighbouring Botswana. The Botswana border is a 45-minute drive away from Livingstone in Zambia and the internationally renowned Victoria Falls, so a lot of people opt for day trips or multiple-night trips into Chobe National Park. The most popular ones on the Zambian side are African Queen, the MV Makumbi (I took it a bunch of times, leaving from the famous Waterfront Hotel on the side of Victoria Falls, which I love too) or Taonga Safaris (a bit more rustic, but cheaper and still incredibly good). An amazing way of seeing the alternate perspective of the Victoria Falls, as seen by Dr. David Livingstone himself, first, before diving into the swimming hole, which is situated directly at the mouth of the falls, where you can lay down at the edge, bend down, and watch as the water cascades to depths beneath. During the tour, you get to learn about the history of Livingstone Island and the making of the majestic Victoria Falls, all while being surrounded by sweeping views of the powerful Zambezi River and the falls thundering down the canyons beneath. It is not the highest bungee jump in the world, but it is certainly one of the most spectacular, with the world-famous Victoria Falls to your back, Zambia on your left, Zimbabwe on your right, and the Zambezi stretching below. On the way up, you will be treated to a spectacular vista of Devils Cataract, Main Falls, Rainbow Falls and Horseshoe Falls from the top. Walk the edges of the ravine and explore lush rainforests irrigated by mists off the famed falls. If you are not doing any of these activities, it is still recommend walking over and watching the jumps and taking in the views of the falls from the bridge -- it is amazing. The Zambian side also offers a fabulous opportunity to be exceptionally close to the waterfalls, as you can walk the asphalt walkway along the edge of the Victoria Falls and feel the spray hitting your face. Whether you are standing at Livingstone Island watching over the most massive water curtain in the world, relaxing in the boat ride down the Zambezi or adventuring on rafting trips down the Zambezi, Victoria Falls will leave you in awe. From adventurous activities like Whitewater rafting, bungee jumping, and ziplining, to amazing game drives through Hwange National Park, to sunset boat rides along the powerful Zambezi - there are tours, sights, and things to do that will satisfy any palate.
