Description
One day tour: take a boat to see Leshan Giant Buddha, explore Leshan Museum, and visit Oriental Buddha Capital full of Buddha statues.
See the legendary Leshan Giant Buddha your way—by boat or by trail—with a private guide and all-inclusive comfort from Chengdu!
Start your day with a private hotel pickup at 7:00 AM. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the scenic ride as your local guide shares fun stories and insights into the region’s deep Buddhist roots.
By 9:00 AM, you’ll arrive in Leshan and hop on a river cruise from the peaceful Wuyou Temple Pier. This 25-minute boat ride gives you the best panoramic views of the Leshan Giant Buddha—towering 71 meters above the water—and the nearby “Sleeping Buddha” mountain formation, formed naturally by the surrounding peaks. You’ll also glide past the dramatic meeting point of three rivers.
**Hot weather? No worries!
If conditions allow, we’ll take the cruise + museum combo route, perfect for staying cool while still soaking in history and culture.
Please note: Leshan Museum is closed on Mondays, so on that day, the itinerary will focus on the cruise and other outdoor sights.
At the Leshan City Museum, you’ll step inside the story of how this colossal Buddha was built—air-conditioned comfort meets ancient marvels!
**Cooler day or feeling adventurous?
Choose the classic hiking route along the cliff. Be ready for around 3 hours of walking, crowds, and steep stairs—but it’s worth it.
You’ll visit Lingyun Temple, Su Garden, Dongpo Pavilion, the Nine-Bend Plank Road, and even stand eye-level with the Buddha’s massive head and feet!
By default, we’ll go with the relaxing cruise (if weather allows). Want to hike instead? Just give us a heads-up in advance so we can plan it for you!
Around noon, follow your guide into Leshan’s local food scene. Try spicy tofu pudding, crispy-skinned duck, or handmade noodles—your guide will point you to the best vendors and help you order like a local. (Meals not included, but deliciously worth it.)
In the afternoon, visit the Oriental Buddha Capital, a hidden gem just behind the Giant Buddha. Walk through lush forest paths and explore 10,000+ statues, grottoes, and quiet temples. It’s the perfect wind-down spot after the day’s big sights.
Return to Chengdu in comfort and get dropped off directly at your hotel (within the 3rd Ring Road) around 5:00 PM, with amazing photos and even better memories in hand.
**We recommend 7:00 AM for better beat the crowds and the heat for a smoother, more comfortable experience. 8:00 AM is also possible if you prefer a later start-just let us know in advance!
