Perched at an altitude of 2,300 meters (7,500 feet) on the slopes of Mount Aragats, Amberd once served as a defensive stronghold for Armenian kings and noble families. As we explore its ancient walls and towers, you’ll be captivated by the stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Our journey continues to Mount Aragats, the highest peak in Armenia, reaching 4,090 meters (13,419 feet). We’ll drive up to Lake Kari, a stunning alpine lake situated at an altitude of around 3,200 meters (10,500 feet). Surrounded by majestic peaks and open plains, the lake is fed by melting snow, giving it crystal-clear waters. The area offers a serene escape, where you can breathe in the fresh mountain air, enjoy a peaceful walk along the lake, and take in the awe-inspiring views. Depending on the season, you may even spot patches of snow lingering on the slopes, adding to the area's magical beauty.
