From Sofia: Private 7 Lakes Winter Hiking Tour

We meet in Sofia (any spot within the city center) and travel on carpooling basis to the starting point of our hike - Pionerska hut in Rila mountain for approx. 1.5 hours. There are two options from here - we could either take the chairlift or hike up. Chairlift would save us approx. 500 meters up and down in altitude difference as well as 1.5-2 hours in total. However, walking through a century old pine forest will be missed. It all depends on your personal fitness. As this is a private tour, all could be tailored according to your needs and desires.
Top station of the lift is located next to Rilski ezera hut. There is an option for a quick warm up with tea, coffee and snacks. Afterwards our joy in this beautiful area begins. We will put on the snowshoes and could make some funny pictures before the hike. Our aim would be to make a circular trip around five of the lakes as reaching the top two lakes traverses via avalanche danger area.
As we start ascending steep up, but not for long, we can already enjoy the panoramas around us and in no time we will also spot the first (Lower) lake. Further up, the terrain gets more gentle and eventually flat to finally reach the Kidney lake after about an hour and a bit time and 250 meters up. There we will enjoy a break with a snack, take pictures and after that continue to close our loop around the lakes. The descend will pass by the Twin lake, the Trefoil lake, the Fish lake (as well as by the older hut in the area with stunning and calming views too), and in some distance from the Lower lake. One last push to hike up the 50 meters altitude difference where we reach the hut. Well deserved break and after it we take the chairlift down to the car. Driving back to Sofia, approx. 1.5 hours. Drop off is at any spot within the city center.

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
