Discover the traditional Chinese-inspired feather inlay craft in the cultural district of Yongqingfang. This hands-on DIY experience is inspired by the ancient art of “Dian Cui”, a decorative technique historically used in Chinese jewelry making to create vivid blue-green visual effects.

You will explore a modern, animal-friendly reinterpretation of this traditional craft using peacock feathers or goose feathers instead of real kingfisher feathers.

Participants will design and create their own jewelry piece, such as earrings, hair accessories, or decorative ornaments. You will begin by selecting feather materials and base patterns, then trace your design onto the base template.

Next, you will prepare and shape the feathers, carefully cutting and arranging them according to the design outline. The feather pieces are then layered and embedded onto the base, creating a vivid shimmering surface effect similar to traditional Dian Cui craftsmanship.

This workshop focuses on precision, color layering, and composition, allowing each participant to create a unique handcrafted accessory.
