Step inside Peng’s Fan Painting Craft Factory in Fuli Town, a working studio devoted to the region’s traditional painted folding fans. Begin with a brief introduction to the materials and stages used to create a fan. A local artisan demonstrates how to hold the brush, balance ink and water, and build a simple composition inspired by Guilin’s landscapes, flowers, birds, or calligraphy-style motifs. Practice the basic strokes before painting directly onto your own fan surface. Choose the painting-only option for a focused creative session, or select the complete workshop to continue with the assembly stage. During the complete workshop, learn how the painted fan surface is aligned and fitted to the fan ribs to form a finished folding fan. This is a practical studio experience rather than a sightseeing stop, and no previous painting experience is required. The artisan speaks Chinese and teaches mainly through clear demonstrations and hands-on guidance. A translation app may be used for simple communication when needed. At the end, take your completed fan home as a personal souvenir.
