Description

Sail south from Keauhou Bay on the Hoku Nui, Sea Paradise's 50-foot luxury sailing catamaran, to world-famous Captain Cook Monument in Kealakekua Bay Marine Life Conservation District.
Sail south from Keauhou Bay, Kailua-Kona aboard the Hoku Nui, Sea Paradise Hawaii's 50-foot luxury sailing catamaran, to the World Famous Captain Cook Monument at Kealakekua Bay. The bay is a 315-acre Marine Life Conservation District protected by the State of Hawaii since 1969, with 60–80 foot visibility. Sea Paradise Hawaii has sailed here since 1985.

Marine naturalist crew run a full reef briefing before every snorkel. What you may see: spinner dolphins at the bay entrance, spotted eagle rays, Moorish idols, yellow tang, parrotfish, moray eels, Hawaiian green sea turtles (honu), and humuhumunukunukuapua'a (Hawaii's state fish). Humpback whales may be seen on the sail from December through April.

Conditions permitting, the tour continues to the Red Hill Area, a volcanic headland on the Kona Coast with underwater lava arches and lava tubes at snorkeling depth, reachable only by boat. Two spectacular snorkel sites — one exceptional Kona tour experience.

Tropical continental breakfast is served on the outbound sail and a deli-style lunch on the return; non-alcoholic beverages are included and local brews, wine and cocktails are available for purchase after the snorkel. We motor-sail when there is no wind. All snorkelers must know how to swim. Departs 8:30 AM, returns approximately 1:00 PM.

The meeting point is the Keauhou Bay finger pier, end of 78-7130 Kaleiopapa St, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740. Meet the crew in blue shirts at the end of the finger pier 15 minutes before departure. Check in 8:15 AM. Departs 8:30 AM. Returns approximately 1:00 PM. Free parking along Kaleiopapa St; allow 3–5 minutes to walk to the boat.
