Description

Join a group of locals in a historic Baghdad café for a cultural exchange over traditional Iraqi tea. Engage in authentic conversations about life, culture, and history.
Step away from the guidebooks and headlines, and join a 3-hour hangout in one of Baghdad’s historic cafés. Meet four young Iraqis and experience the city through conversation, laughter, and shared stories.

Meet a group of friends—two women and two men—from different cities and backgrounds across Iraq. Between them, they speak Arabic and English, and bring perspectives shaped by their studies and work in social and economic sciences.

Enjoy chats that can flow from everyday life in Baghdad to Iraq’s culture, history, and even the geopolitics shaping the region—always in a way that’s open, honest, and personal.

Over steaming glasses of chai and light snacks, have the chance to ask questions, exchange ideas, and see Iraq beyond stereotypes. No two sessions are the same: sometimes dive into literature and poetry, sometimes it’s food and traditions, and sometimes it’s how young Iraqis view global politics and their future.

Gather in safe, centrally located heritage cafés such as Al-Shabandar or Munkhul - meeting places where poets, writers, and everyday people have gathered for generations. When possible, also take a short stroll through Al-Mutanabbi Street, the historic heart of Baghdad’s book culture.

This isn’t a scripted tour or a lecture. It’s about sitting together, sharing tea, and discovering Iraq through the voices of its people.
