Duration: 02:30 hours

Description

Cook Japanese or Georgian food in a real restaurant kitchen in central Tbilisi. Make omurice, ramen or sushi with a Japanese chef, or khinkali and khachapuri with a Georgian cook, then eat it.
Join a small hands-on cooking class at Omurice Land, a Japanese restaurant inside Japan Food Hub in central Tbilisi. Classes run in the morning before the restaurant opens, so you have the kitchen and the chefs to yourselves.

Choose your class when you book:

Japanese class with chef Kyohei Mikami. Kyohei has cooked omurice in Japan since 2010 and won the Omurice Stadium 2019 Hokkaido tournament. You will make omurice (ketchup rice wrapped in a soft omelette) and one more dish: Japanese curry with a crispy katsu, a ramen bowl (our broth is ready, you make the egg, tare and toppings), or salmon and vegetable sushi rolls.

Georgian class with our Georgian cooks. Mix the filling and fold your own khinkali, Georgia's famous soup dumplings, and bake khachapuri, the cheese bread every visitor wants to try. Learn how to eat khinkali the Georgian way.

The class starts with a short introduction to the ingredients, then you cook step by step at your own station. At the end you sit down in the restaurant and eat everything you made as your lunch. Recipes are sent to you after the class so you can cook them again at home.

Groups are small, 2 to 8 people. The class is taught in simple English, and our team can help in Georgian and Russian. Vegetarian versions are available if you tell us when you book.

Highlights

  • Cook in a working restaurant kitchen, not a home or a studio
  • Learn omurice from a chef who won a Japanese omurice competition
  • Sit down and eat everything you cook as your lunch
