Description

Float above the clouds, ride the world's longest cableway, and stand among the peaks that inspired Avatar — all in one unforgettable day. This is the China you came to see.
Morning: Tianmen Mountain (Hotel Pickup)
Your guide and driver meet you at your hotel lobby in Zhangjiajie city and take you to the Tianmen Mountain cable car station. You'll ride the world's longest high-mountain passenger cableway — 7,455 meters long — on a 28-minute ascent from the city straight up into the clouds. At the summit, walk the cliff-hanging glass skywalk for views over the famous 99-bend road below, then make your way to Heaven's Gate, the massive natural arch at the top of 999 steps. The standard Route A (cable car up, shuttle bus down the winding road) is the most efficient way to see everything. Allow 3–4 hours here. Your driver waits at the base.
Midday:
Before rushing to the next spot Wulingyuan, give yourself 90 minutes for a relaxed, memorable “mini Chinese culture experience” at the foot of the mountain.
Write Your Name in Chinese Calligraphy,Taste Local Sangzhi White Tea,Enjoy a Simple Western Meal.
Private car from Tianmen Mountain to the Wulingyuan scenic area — roughly 1 hour, about 50 km. Without the Cultural Experience Package,Grab a quick lunch on the way; your guide can point you to mild, non-spicy options if you prefer.
Afternoon: Bailong Elevator & Yuanjiajie (Avatar Mountains)
Enter Wulingyuan through the East Gate (Wulingyuan Gate). Ride the Bailong Elevator — the world's tallest outdoor lift, built directly onto a cliff face — shooting 326 meters up in just 88 seconds. From the top station, a shuttle bus takes you to Yuanjiajie. Here you'll walk the viewing platforms at the Southern Sky Column — the towering sandstone pillar that inspired the floating mountains in Avatar — plus the First Bridge under Heaven and Lost Souls Platform, where the peaks seem to drift on mist. Allow about 1.5–2 hours in Yuanjiajie.
Late Afternoon: Tianzi Mountain Scenic Area
Board the scenic shuttle bus from Yuanjiajie to Tianzi Mountain (roughly 30–40 minutes). This area offers some of the most dramatic sandstone peak views in the park, including the He Long Parkviewpoint. Spend 1–1.5 hours exploring, then descend by the Tianzi Mountain Cableway — a 20-minute ride with panoramic views — followed by a shuttle bus back to the East Gate.
Evening: Return to City & Station Drop-Off
Your private car meets you at the East Gate for the drive back to Zhangjiajie city. Depending on your train or flight time, your guide will adjust the pace accordingly. Typical arrival back in the city: 7:00–8:00 PM. You'll be dropped off directly at the railway station or airport for your onward journey.
Good to Know: This is a full, fast-paced day covering two major scenic areas. A private car transfer between Tianmen Mountain and Wulingyuan is essential — public buses take 1.5–2 hours and would make this itinerary impossible. Comfortable walking shoes are a must; expect stairs, glass walkways, and long shuttle rides.
