Our staff will pick you up at your hotel or residence within the designated area of Shanghai at either 9:00 AM or 1:00 PM (the exact time will be confirmed with you in advance). Then, we will proceed together to the workshop for your Intangible Cultural Heritage experience. Discover the art of shell inlaying (Luodian), an intangible cultural heritage craft.
Learn how this technique involves grinding seashells into thin pieces shaped like figures, flowers, birds, or geometric patterns, which are then inlaid onto objects as decoration. Under the guidance of an instructor, select one base item—a hairpin, brooch, bracelet, earrings, or necklace—to decorate.
Learn the traditional techniques to create your masterpiece and take home the finished product as a souvenir. No prior experience is required; the workshop offers a relaxed atmosphere for everyone to enjoy learning.
Select one metal base for your chosen jewelry (hairpin, brooch, bracelet, earrings, or necklace). Polish the metal base and draw precise positioning lines based on your design. Select shells or raw materials and grind or trim them into shape.
Apply special glue evenly inside the base and inlay the cut materials. Sand repeatedly with fine sandpaper (from coarse to fine grit) until the surface is perfectly smooth. Use a soft cloth with ash or oil to polish the piece, achieving a sparkling, detailed finish.

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
