Did you know that Saalfeld is one of the oldest towns in Thuringia? On a 90-minute guided tour through the historic town center, you will get to know the beautiful town of Saalfeld. The tour takes you over centuries-old cobblestones through the town's living history. The large number of well-preserved buildings from different eras gave it the nickname "Thuringia's stone chronicle".
The historic town center is characterized by the imposing Renaissance town hall with its ornate façade, old patrician houses with elaborate gables, archways and bay windows. The walking tour also takes you to St. John's Church with its unique ceiling paintings and the former Franciscan monastery, now the town museum.
The Old Town tour takes place every Saturday at 11 a.m. from April to October.
Participation is free of charge for holders of the Saalfeld guest card.
