No big company, no student – just me: your brewmaster & beer sommelier. With humor, knowledge, and Kölsch, I'll show you Cologne's breweries and the city's "liquid gold" up close.
Experience Cologne's brewery culture as authentically as never before – with me, a real master brewer and beer sommelier. On this two-hour tour, you won't get a mass tour from students with a script, but real expertise, Cologne humor, and first-hand stories.
We'll start either at Cologne Cathedral or in the old town (Heumarkt) and from there we'll embark on a journey through traditional breweries. A piece of Cologne culture awaits you in every brewery: sometimes rustic, sometimes lively, but always with a freshly tapped Kölsch in the glass. You'll learn why the Köbes is the way it is, why Kölsch is only served in bars, and why the breweries in Cologne are so much more than just restaurants.
As a master brewer, I'll explain the special features of Kölsch, how it's brewed, and what makes it so unique. As a beer sommelier, I'll give you tips on how to better perceive aromas and nuances. And as a Cologne native, I'll tell you anecdotes and stories that, with a wink, reveal more about the mentality of this city than any travel guide.
The tour lasts about two hours – entertaining, fun, and sociable. We'll visit several breweries, discover differences in atmosphere and Kölsch, and in the end you'll not only have tasted a few beers, but also experienced a good bit of the Kölsch lifestyle.
With me, it's personal and real: no big company, no 08/15 program, but a guide who lives and loves his city and his beer. If you want to understand Cologne and experience Kölsch, you've come to the right place.

The tour lasts about 2 hours and is on foot – comfortable shoes are recommended.
The starting point is at Cologne Cathedral or in the old town (will be confirmed in advance).
The selection of breweries can be adjusted depending on the group and customer requirements.
Drinks and food aren't included in the price and are paid directly at the brewery. (So please bring cash, possibly some change as a tip for the service (voluntary))
Please be at the meeting point on time so we can start together.
The tour isn't wheelchair accessible (stairs and cobblestones in the old town).
You must be at least 16 years old to drink beer according to German law
We'll meet at Cologne Cathedral, at the cross flower on the cathedral's forecourt.

When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
