Description

Take on a challenging high-altitude trek to Rapi Lake, a secluded alpine lake beneath the dramatic cliffs of Mount Aragats’ northern peak. Includes transport from Yerevan and expert local guidance.
Experience the raw beauty of Armenia’s highlands with a full-day 20km guided hike to Rapi Lake, nestled beneath the towering northern wall of Mt. Aragats. Starting with a comfortable transfer from Yerevan, you’ll travel 1.5 hours to the village of Geghadzor—your gateway to one of Armenia’s most scenic alpine landscapes.

From the village, your hike begins, gradually ascending approximately 850 meters over a 20 km out and back trail. This medium to hard level hike will take you through changing terrain, from village trails to high-altitude meadows covered in wildflowers during summer. Along the way, you may encounter local shepherds who spend their summers living in tents and tending to their flocks in the vast mountain pastures of Mt. Aragats, Armenia’s highest peak.

At nearly 3,000 meters above sea level, Rapi Lake is a striking glacial lake set against the dramatic backdrop of Aragats’ northern cliffs. You’ll enjoy breathtaking views and cool mountain air before making your descent back to Geghadzor and returning to Yerevan in the evening.

This is a physically demanding hike for those who are beginner hikers and is not suitable for children. Participants must bring their own food, water, and appropriate hiking gear, including hats, sunscreen, and weather-appropriate clothing.
