3 Days Axum (Aksum), Yeha Temple and Surroundings tour.

Day 1: Picking you up in the airport at 9:55am. Axum Sighteseeing,
it will be a day of city tour where you will be able to see Axum. The old and historical
town of Axum with is Tourism heritages.
During your day of stay in Axum, you will start the sightseeing that morning to
the places listed below,
• The main (northern) stelae field (The Obelisks)
• Queen Sheba’s swimming pool
• Ezana inscription (from the 4th century)
• King Kaleb and King Gebremekle tomb
• Queen Sheba’s ruins palace
• St. Mary of Zion church (Where the ark of the covenant is), the Monastery church of
St. Mary of Zion.

Over night Axum.

Day 2: in the morning after breakfast (if on Saturday), we will go to colorful Basket market under the biggest sycamore tree, it’s the only basket market takes place every Saturdays. Then we will go to the whole market where locals exchange their goods coming from countryside’s. You will feel a market that has a sense to the people.

Then after returning back for lunch, we will go to trek to the lioness statute as it’s around drive around 7 km from the town and about 20 minutes trekking to reach the lioness statute. It’s called GOBO DURA. The place is an area where the obelisks of Axum comes from or it’s the query site. Here is easy to trek and not very long. So the child will do the trekking with us.
Over night Axum.

Day 3: in the morning , Drive for 55 Km to visit YEHA temple. The oldest town in the history of East Africa. It likely served as the capital of the pre-Aksumite kingdom of Da’amat. On the way we will pass through the chained adwa mountains where the battle of Adwa takes place. Then We will return back to Axum in the afternoon to get your flight back to Addis.

Note: There is Procession (Prayer ceremony) that takes place only in Axum the first 7 days of a new month. It starts from Day 1st till Day 7th on Ethiopian calendar day high is usually 8-10days before the Gorgonian calendar. The program starts at around 4:30am.
They took the Symbol of the Ark of the covenant from the Church did a prayer walk around the town. It’s something you shouldn’t miss in Axum.
