Day 1: Addis Ababa – Dinsho

Start your adventure with a drive from Addis Ababa to the Bale Mountains or a pickup from Bale Goba Airport. Arrive at the Dinsho Headquarters and enjoy a coffee or tea. Begin hiking around the headquarters in the afternoon, with the chance to spot mountain nyala, Menelik’s bushbuck, and many endemic birds. Spend the night at a campsite.

Day 2: Dinsho – Sodota Campsite

Trek from Dinsho to Sodota, a 6-7 hour walk. Look out for Ethiopian wolves and birds like the blue-winged goose, spot-breasted lapwings, Abyssinian longclaw, and wattled ibis. Stop by the Habera Waterfall for a break. Spend the night at the Sodota campsite.

Day 3: Sodota – Adlye Woodland

Trek from Sodota to Adlye Woodland, a 6-7 hour walk through stunning landscapes. Spot many raptors and wildlife along the way. Spend the night at the Adlye Woodland campsite.

Day 4: Adlye Woodland – Dinsho – Awasa

Trek from Adlye to Dinsho, a 2-3 hour walk. Visit the Gaessy Grassland to see wildlife and endemic birds like the Bale Mountains nyala and other antelope. Return to Dinsho and proceed to Awasa, stopping for lunch at Dodola town. Once in Awasa, check into your hotel and take a walk by the lakeside. Take a boat ride to see hippos and aquatic birds. Spend the night at a hotel in Awasa.

Day 5: Awasa – Maze National Park

After breakfast, visit the fish market to see birds and feeding colobus monkeys. Drive to Maze National Park via Amaya, Chida, Sodo, and Maze. Spend the night at a tented camp in Maze National Park.

Day 6: Full Day Game Drive in Maze National Park

Explore Maze National Park, known for its vast savannah grasslands and the endemic Swayne’s hartebeest. Spot various mammals such as buffalo, oribi, bohor, red buck, warthog, bushbuck, waterbuck, greater kudu, lesser kudu, bush pig, Anubis baboon, vervet monkey, leopard, and wild cats. Spend the night at a tented camp in Maze National Park.

Day 7: Maze National Park – Lake Langano

After breakfast, drive to Lake Langano, one of a series of lakes running south down the Ethiopian Rift Valley. Stop for lunch at Sodo, then continue to Langano. Upon arrival, check into your lodge and enjoy the sandy beach. Swimming, horse riding, and jet skiing are available. Spend the night at Bekele Mola Lodge.

Day 8: Abijata Lake and Shala Park – Addis Ababa

After breakfast, drive to the park for bird watching, especially flamingos. Head towards Abijata Lake, where the shores will be pink from thousands of flamingos. See African pochard, avocet, gull-billed tern, pintail, ruff, and a variety of ducks. Visit natural hot springs for a steam bath. Drive back to Addis Ababa, stopping for lunch at Ziway town. Upon arrival in Addis Ababa, be dropped off at your hotel or the airport.
