Description
Discover the natural beauty of Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation on a day tour from Cairns. Travel in a comfortable, air-conditioned coach with a knowledgeable guide.
Begin your adventure with a pickup from your accommodation in Cairns or Northern Beaches. Travel in a comfortable, air-conditioned coach and listen to commentary provided by friendly, knowledgeable guides who are committed to your satisfaction. From there, we head north amongst the sugar cane fields to the Mossman area and then up to the Daintree River. Then it's croc spotting time!
Morning refreshment with coffee, tea (Daintree Tea), iced tea or cordial and some biscuits is served, before you go onto the boat. There are rest rooms on site. Your wildlife spotting cruise takes you through the domain of the large saltwater crocodile, with egrets wading near the mangroves as the crocodiles wait patiently for a meal. Keep an eye out for pythons, tree snakes and butterflies too, and learn about the unique mangrove systems and their importance to both the rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef.
Crossing to the northern side of the Daintree River, you'll enter the Cape Tribulation section of the World Heritage listed Daintree National Park, home to a 135 million year old Gondwana rainforest. A highlight of the day is the Marrdja Boardwalk, leading you through both freshwater rainforest and a complex mangrove swamp system, with plenty of time to stop and learn about the local flora and fauna from your guide.
Enjoy a picnic lunch (if option selected) at the Kulki day use area (or bring your own), then take a walk along the stunning Cape Tribulation Beach, the only place on the planet where two World Heritage listed national parks meet, with the Daintree Rainforest on one side and the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park on the other. There's time to explore the beach and take in the views from the Cape Tribulation headland lookout, so keep an eye out for cassowaries on the way.
Your last stop in the rainforest is the famous Mossman Gorge, where a clear mountain river tumbles over granite boulders on its way to the sea. Bring your swimwear and towel for a refreshing dip (conditions permitting and supervised by your guide), or simply relax by the water and watch for dragonflies, butterflies and the occasional freshwater turtle.
Whether you're a youth traveller, flying solo, or visiting with your spouse and/or friends, with or without children, this destination and tour has something for everyone. Enjoy the amazing natural beauty and destinations, ancient rainforest flora and fauna, wide rivers, and sandy beaches. Take in the stunning views and make memories that will last a lifetime.
