Description

A walk through the magical center of Graz, Austria's secret gem: gorgeous, whimsical architecture, amazing Christmas markets, rising up a hill with breathtaking views.
We'll meet at the WEIKHARD UHR clock on the HAUPTPLATZ main square, and admire some of the landmarks, including the GEMAHLTE HAUS with its painted facade, and the LANDHAUS, Styria's most magnificent renaissance building.

We'll explore quaint mediaeval PASSAGEWAYS behind the HERRENGASSE, then stop at the GLOCKENSPIEL and walk through the pedestrian BERMUDA TRIANGLE, with its stylish cafes.

We'll climb the historic SPORGASSE shopping street as it winds its way uphill, visiting the ancient KNIGHTS' COURTYARD and glimpsing the effigy of the TURKISH SOLDIER outside PALAIS SAURAU.

After walking to the top of the SCHLOSSBERG hill to see the iconic UHRTURM tower, ransomed from Napoleon by the city folk, we'll admire the picturesque ROOFSCAPE of the old city from above.

Then we'll walk down the steps, return to the main square and visit the HAUPTPLATZ and FRANCISKANERPLATZ CHRISTMAS MARKETS, where you can sample the festive spirit and try some Gluhwein mulled wine and other local specialities (at your discretion).
