Country: Azerbaijan

Duration: 04:00 hours

Description

Of the approximately 800 mud volcanoes on Earth, more than 350 are located in eastern Azerbaijan and in the Caspian Sea. That is why Azerbaijan is called the "Homeland of Mud Volcanoes."
Witnessing an Eruption: Most importantly, you get to see the volcanoes up close. Cold, gray, thick mud slowly erupts from each volcano's crater, while some make "spitting" sounds as they boil. You can smell the methane gas coming from underground.

Volcanic Mud Contact: At a safe distance permitted by your guide, you can touch this mud. The mud is warm or cold, and feels soft and creamy to the touch. Many visitors rub it on their hands or faces to benefit from its healing properties.

Unique Photos: This landscape is a true paradise for photographers. You have the opportunity to take unique photos against the backdrop of beautiful geological structures and the attractive contrast of gray and brown colors.
