The Nimalung Buddhist Monastery hosts the three-day Bumthang Nimalung Tshechu Festival. Every year, the Bumthang Nimalung Tshechu Festival takes place. Since the word "Tshechu" refers to the tenth day of a Bhutanese calendar month, which is widely observed as the birth anniversary of Guru Rimpoche, the Second Buddha, Tshechu are always held on or around that day. All 20 of Bhutan's districts participate in Tshechus, which are held at various months depending on the district. Tshechus are pleasant occasions for the people as well as a major day of offerings to the Guru Rimpoche and other regional deities.
