If you are looking to explore the mountains without the rush of conventional tours, this experience is for you. We have designed this experience with your freedom in mind: you decide what time we start (between 6:00 AM and 10:00 AM) so that the day fits your schedule.

We'll start our adventure by picking you up from your hotel and heading out of the city to the Jilarata Viewpoint. Here, surrounded by the fresh air and breathtaking views of the Cordillera Real, our guide will share with you the mystique of the apachetas and their importance in Andean culture. We will take the time to appreciate the magnitude of the mountains and capture unique photographs. In keeping with local tradition, we will pause for a moment to ask permission from the Achachilas (the protective spirits of the mountains), a necessary spiritual connection before entering their domain.

Before reaching the snow-capped mountain, we will make stops at the Milluni lagoons and their historic cemetery, places with a unique atmosphere where the colors of the landscape make for incredible photos.

Upon arriving at the base of the glacier, at an altitude of about 16,000 feet, we will provide you with eco-friendly trekking poles to begin the hike. On this tour, you set the pace; we will take the time you need to enjoy the geology of the area without any rush. After approximately 1.5 hours of hiking, the Esmeralda Lagoon will appear before us, located at the foot of the imposing snow-capped mountain at a maximum altitude of 5,000 meters (16,400 feet) above sea level. This mirror-like body of water is known for its deep green color, created by minerals and melting snow, making it the perfect spot to marvel at the grandeur of the Andes, feel the energy of the eternal ice, and enjoy the peace of the mountains.

Back at the base of the glacier, we will be waiting for you with a delicious energy-rich snack to help you regain your strength before heading back. Finally, we will drop you off again at the door of your hotel in La Paz so that you can rest after an unforgettable day in the mountains.

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
