Description
Discover Sarajevo's hidden green paradise on a guided tour. Visit Stojčevac, Vrelo Bosne, and the Roman Bridge, and learn about the history and nature of these iconic locations.
Begin your journey at Stojčevac, a hidden green oasis surrounded by forest, fresh mountain air, and the quiet sound of flowing water. Stojčevac was once a luxury retreat during the Austro-Hungarian period, later used during Yugoslav times.
Today, see the remains of the old complex and fragments of walls and structures slowly taken over by nature. Discover the natural spring water that emerges directly from the ground. Notice the remains of war trenches, silent traces that remind you that this peaceful place once had a completely different role.
See the underground tunnels, believed to have been used as protective shelters, part of a planned atomic bunker system during Yugoslav times. Next, move to Vrelo Bosne, one of the most iconic natural locations in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is where the river Bosna is born from crystal-clear springs beneath Igman mountain.
Before entering, see the famous Great Alley (Velika aleja). Take an optional horse carriage ride through the alley for an additional fee (15€ per person).
Finish at the Roman Bridge (Rimski most), a place where history is literally under your feet. Although built during the Ottoman period, the bridge contains original Roman stones, making it one of the oldest historical sites in Sarajevo. Learn how it was part of ancient Roman road networks and was built from materials nearly 2000 years old.
