Discover one of the most complete and enchanting routes in Lençóis Maranhenses with the Atins Circuit — a full-day experience that blends breathtaking nature, local culture, and authentic regional cuisine. The tour departs from Barreirinhas at 8:30 AM in a Toyota 4x4, specially equipped to cross the fine sandy trails and stunning landscapes of the national park.

After approximately one hour of driving through the dunes, our first stop is at the Lagoa do Gavião, a crystal-clear lagoon surrounded by white sand dunes that reflect the sky — the perfect spot for a refreshing swim and peaceful rest. From there, we continue to the open sea area, where the ocean breeze and vast horizon offer a striking contrast to the inland dunes.

Next, we head to the charming rustic village of Canto do Atins, home to some of the region’s most renowned culinary experiences. Here you’ll find the famous restaurants of Dona Luzia, Senhor Antônio, and Carminha (in the Ponta do Mangue area), where visitors can enjoy delicious, freshly prepared regional dishes like butter-grilled shrimp, fried fish, and sun-dried beef — all served in a warm, simple, and welcoming environment. After lunch and some well-deserved rest in hammocks under the shade of trees, we continue to the small village of Atins, known for its laid-back vibe, sandy streets, and peaceful charm. There, we visit the mouth of the Preguiças River, where the river meets the Atlantic Ocean in a beautiful natural setting — perfect for contemplation, photography, and perhaps one more refreshing dip.

But the day isn’t over yet. In the afternoon, we begin our return route with stops at more of the park’s beautiful lagoons, each with its own character and crystal waters. Among them are the Lagoa das Sete Mulheres, the Lagoa Tropical, and the Lagoa do Kaite, along with others that vary by season and rainfall levels. Each stop offers stunning views and calm waters for swimming.

At around 4:00 PM, we begin the return from Atins, arriving back in Barreirinhas around 5:30 PM. By the end of the day, you'll take home not just photos of beautiful landscapes, but the flavors, stories, and sensations of one of the most authentic and complete circuits in the Lençóis Maranhenses.
