If you're in Salvador, you've got to check out the communities (favelas) of Solar do Unhão and Gamboa de Baixo, the first areas to be inhabited outside the city of Salvador when we were a Portuguese colony.
By the sea, the communities offer some of the best beachfront spots in the city, plus a variety of dining options, lots of music (samba and everything else), and total immersion in our culture and daily life.
To make it even better, we'll visit Prainha do MAM (Museum of Modern Art of Bahia), one of the most beautiful beaches in the region, which is located in the Solar do Unhão community and can only be reached by boat.
Then, we'll check out the most popular bar by the sea, Bar da Mônica, in Gamboa de Baixo, a community with a lot of history and a vibrant life, with residents and places full of joy and beauty.
As a bonus, we'll also stop at Praia da Preguiça, famous in the lyrics of world-renowned Bahian singers, such as Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, and many more.
