Description

Uncover Huangshan’s stunning beauty on a Shanghai day trip—zip by high-speed train, glide up via Yungu Cableway, and explore the scenic area with an insightful guide!
Begin your adventure with a pickup from your hotel in Shanghai. Head to Shanghai High-Speed Railway Station, where you’ll board a high-speed train to Huangshan City (Tunxi). Upon arriving at Huangshan City Railway Station, meet your local driver and guide and transfer to Huangshan Scenic Area.

Once in the scenic area, take the Yungu Cableway up the mountain and marvel at Huangshan’s "First Wonder" — the fantastic pines, such as Heihu Pine (with branches like a tiger stretching its claws) and Lianli Pine (resembling two lovers embracing).

After getting off the cableway, wander around Shixin Peak and Sanhua Hollow, where you can admire granite peak forests formed by hundreds of millions of years of tectonic movements and glacial erosion. Some peaks stand like sharp swords piercing the sky, while others lie like giant beasts crouching among the mountains, with "axe-cut" marks on the rock surfaces that act as "living fossils" of Earth’s evolution.

When you reach Lion Peak, overlook the sea of clouds in the mountains — Huangshan’s most enchanting "flowing wonder." Early in the morning or after rain, clouds and mist rise from the valleys, sometimes resembling a turbulent sea and sometimes like light veils wrapping around the peaks. When sunlight penetrates the clouds, it casts golden "Buddha’s Light" (a rare optical phenomenon), a breathtaking sight rarely seen in mountains worldwide.

Continue to Paiyun Pavilion and Feilai Stone: the former is an ideal spot to watch the "Huangshan sunset," where the setting sun dyes the sea of clouds and peak forests orange-red, creating a fairyland-like scene; the latter is a geological miracle — a 360-ton giant rock "hangs" on the peak top with only a tiny contact area with the base, looking as if it might topple at any moment yet having stood firm for hundreds of millions of years, its formation still a mystery.

Finally, climb to Bright Summit, Huangshan’s second-highest peak at 1,841 meters. The flat, open peak top offers a 360-degree panoramic view — in the distance, Tiandu Peak and Lianhua Peak tower, while nearby, fantastic pines, strange rocks, and sea of clouds complement each other. Here, you’ll truly feel the grandeur of the poem "When you reach the top of the mountain, you see all other mountains are small," and understand why Huangshan has inspired literati and poets throughout history and been praised by UNESCO as "a rare dual treasure of nature and culture for humanity."

After exploring part of the scenic area, you’ll be treated to an included mountain-top buffet for lunch—this way, you can fully replenish your energy while soaking in the stunning mountain scenery at the same time.

Afterward, transfer to Huangshan City (Tunxi) High-Speed Railway Station, where you’ll take a high-speed train back to Shanghai. Upon arriving in Shanghai, a driver will pick you up from the station and take you back to your hotel, bringing your one-day Huangshan tour to an end.
