Description
Discover Hangzhou on a 2-day private tour with airport pickup and drop-off. Cruise West Lake, explore Songcheng, visit Xixi National Wetland Park, and see the Gongchen Bridge.
Day 1: Airport Pickup, West Lake, and Songcheng
Meet your private driver and English-speaking guide at Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport (HGH) arrivals hall, holding a sign with your name. After a warm greeting, board your private vehicle and head directly to Hangzhou’s most cherished landmark, West Lake.
Begin your West Lake journey at Leifeng Pagoda, a five-story octagonal tower perched on the southern shore of the lake. Originally built in 975 AD and rebuilt in 2002, this iconic pagoda offers the finest panoramic view of West Lake from its top-floor observation deck.
From the top, see the entire lake spread out like a traditional Chinese painting, with willows framing the shimmering waters. Visiting in the late afternoon is ideal, allowing you to climb leisurely and watch the famous “Leifeng Sunset” as the pagoda is bathed in golden-red light.
Next, head to the lake for a scenic boat cruise to Three Pools Mirroring the Moon (Santanyinyue), the most famous attraction on West Lake. Board a traditional boat and glide across the calm waters to the island of Xiaoyingzhou, where three small stone pagodas rise from the water — an image that appears on China’s one-yuan banknote.
After the cruise, travel to Songcheng, a sprawling theme park that brings the vibrant culture of China‘s Song Dynasty (960–1279) back to life. Spanning multiple streets filled with traditional architecture, this is the largest Song-themed park in China, featuring over 20 theaters and 100 performances daily.
The highlight is the Eternal Love (Songcheng Qianqing) show — a spectacular one-hour theatrical production with stunning choreography, advanced stage technology, and breathtaking special effects that tell the story of Hangzhou‘s 5,000-year history. After the show, your private vehicle will take you to your hotel.
Day 2: Xixi National Wetland Park and Gongchen Bridge Historic District
After breakfast and hotel checkout, your guide and driver will take you to Xixi National Wetland Park, often called Hangzhou‘s “green lung.” This national 5A-rated scenic area combines urban, agricultural, and cultural wetland elements into a breathtaking landscape described as “a winding stream, a wisp of smoke” — and it was also a filming location for the movie If You Are the One.
The park offers two main ways to explore: by electric boat or by rowing boat.
Your guide will lead you on a recommended route: start at Zhoujia Village entrance, take a boat through the reed marshes to visit Qiuxue Temple , then visit Yanshui Fishing Village to learn about traditional sericulture and watch cormorant fishing. In the afternoon, stroll along Hezhu Street, a charming lane filled with local snack shops selling Xixi specialties.
In the late afternoon, travel to the Gongchen Bridge Historic District, a charming area filled with traditional architecture and local shops. Finally, your driver will take you to the airport for your departure.
