Step into the shoes of a wildlife expert and explore Maksimir, home to diverse bird species! Join our relaxed birdwatching tour with an ornithologist and visit to the Zagreb Zoo at your own pace.
Start your day surrounded by nature in the peaceful greenery of Maksimir Park, one of Zagreb’s oldest and most beautiful urban parks. Join a relaxed birdwatching session led by a local ornithologist who has personally conducted research in the area. With her deep knowledge of the park’s birdlife and history, you’ll gain insight into both the species you spot and the unique ecosystem they live in.
After a break for lunch on your own, the afternoon is yours to explore the Zagreb Zoo, located within the park. Your entrance ticket is included, and you’re free to move through the zoo at your own pace. You’ll also have the option to enjoy a 30 min rowing session on the park’s lake (not included in the price, subject to availability).
Whether you're interested in nature research or simply enjoying the environment, it's a great way to spend a few hours outdoors and wrap up a low-key, nature-filled day in the city!

Wear comfortable walking shoes, the terrain is mainly gravel and grass.
Binoculars recommended for birdwatching if you have them, but we provide them as well.
You’ll also have the option to enjoy a short rowing session on the park’s lake, subject to availability. Boats operate on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved in advance, but with several in rotation and 30-minute sessions, wait times are typically short—and there is a café nearby while you wait. Each boat fits 6–8 people and costs €8 per person. Please note: this is an independent service, and Science Tours is not affiliated with or responsible for its operation. We are simply informing you of this optional activity.
Meet at the main entrance of the Maksimir Park, next to the Ice Cream stand. Your host will have a Science Tours sign.

When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
