Category:
Country: Colombia
Duration:
06:00 hours
Description
A hiking experience to discover and learn about the biodiversity of the Andes and the ancestral indigenous culture of this territory. Orchids, birds, forests, and cave paintings, all in one.
Our experience will be led by local and native guides, so you will be learning from the very first moment.
We will start in Bogota at our meeting point, where we will meet our guide and board the bus that will take us to the start of the tour (approximately 1 hour).
Once at the start of the trail at 2,600 meters above sea level, we will visit the indigenous pictograms or cave paintings that will allow us to learn about the indigenous and historical context of the Choachii and the Muyscas (indigenous people who inhabited this territory).
We will ascend along the royal road, a road considered a historical heritage site of Colombia, crossing the humid forest of the Andes, surrounded by bromeliads, orchids, and native trees.
We will take a break and enjoy a country snack with artisanal foods, which will allow us to catch our breath and enjoy the entrance to the Hidden Valley, one of our favorite landscapes, as we will be under an incredible rock cliff.
Here we will be at an altitude of 3,000 meters above sea level and will walk through the valley, learning about the soil, the history of the mountain range, and a little about the inhabitants of the area. It will be a journey of diversity.
After a beautiful and challenging climb, we will enjoy the unique landscapes that this trail offers us throughout the eastern Andean territory and arrive at the enchanting cloud forest, a very popular and important ecosystem in Colombia, as it acts as a buffer for the páramos and regulates the water cycle. Here, surrounded by a stunning and serene forest, we will have a relaxation and contemplation activity to fully enjoy the magic of the forest.
After the activity and snacks, we will enjoy a little more time and return along the same trail to the avenue where the bus will pick us up and take us back to Bogota.
A one-day experience, hiking near Bogota, biotourism, ecotourism, hiking, and environmental education. All in one day.
