From Bogotá: San Agustín 3-Day Trip Tour in English

Discover San Agustín, Colombia’s most recognized archaeological destination, on this memorable 3-day adventure. Known for its impressive natural richness and stunning mountainous landscapes, San Agustín is the location of a mysterious indigenous group that built hundreds of gigantic stone sculptures before disappearing.  

Night 1:
You’ll be picked up at your hotel in Bogotá at 8:00 PM and taken to the bus terminal, where you’ll continue your journey to San Agustín in a 10 to 12-hour overnight coach ride to the south of the country.  

Day 1:
When you arrive, a local guide will take you to your hotel to settle in and have breakfast. At 1:00 PM, you’ll be taken to San Agustín’s main archaeological park. Visit Luis Duque Gómez Museum, Fuente del Lavapatas, and Alto del Lavapatas. You’ll be amazed by the enigmatic stone sculptures and learn in detail about their possible meanings from an expert guide. Afterwards, you’ll head back to your hotel.  

Day 2:
After breakfast, head out at 8:00 AM to tour through San Agustín’s Touristic Peripheral Zone, where you’ll be amazed by archaeological wonders, impressive waterfalls, and stunning mountainscapes. Go to Alto de los Idolos Park, known for having the largest monolith in San Agustín. Visit a natural park, Obando Museum, and two beautiful waterfalls. When the day is over, you can choose to stay in town for dinner or head back to your hotel.  

Day 3:
After breakfast, you’ll be picked up at 8:00 AM for a horseback ride through 4 important archaeological sites: El Tablón, La Chaquira, Purutal, and La Pelota. This ride by horseback requires no experience; however, if you prefer, you may take a Jeep along the same route instead. After 1:00 PM, have the rest of the afternoon to yourself before departing for Bogotá at 6:00 PM. You’ll arrive in the city and be taken back to your hotel at around 6:00 AM the next day.

This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 48 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 48 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
