Description
Hike on the Sólheimajökull Glacier and explore a newly discovered ice cave. Gear up with an ice axe, crampons, harness, and helmet, and learn about the glacier's formations from your guide.
Begin your adventure at the Icelandic Mountain Guides Base Camp at the edge of the glacier. Gear up with the necessary glacier equipment, including an ice axe, crampons, harness, and helmet.
Once everyone is ready, start your hike towards the glacier. Get up close to amazing glacier formations, deep crevasses, and high ridges in an otherworldly landscape that is constantly changing and evolving. Learn about the features you are witnessing and the geology of the area from your guide.
Arrive at a new beautiful blue ice cave and, literally, head into the glacier. Marvel at the cave, naturally formed by the movement of meltwater in the summer, that has left a stunningly crystal blue tunnel behind. Spend enough time in the cave to fully take in your surroundings, before heading back over the glacier to the Base Camp, where your hike started.
