Description

Learn about the dramatic life and times of Prussian King Frederick the Great while walking through his magnificent summer residence, Sanssouci Park.
We meet at Luise Square opposite the Brandenburg Gate (of Potsdam) and then proceed to the Green Gate, where we enter Sanssouci, northern Germany's most famous palace park, once the summer home of Prussia's best-known king, Frederick the Great.

On our stroll through the park, we'll see the Church of Peace, the Chinese House, the New Orangery, the New Palace, the Picture Gallery, the Belvedere, and much more. Finally we pay our respects to Frederick at his final resting place. Why was he only buried there in 1991? Why do people leave potatoes at Frederick's grave? Who is buried next to him? What was his life like? Why did his father treat him so abonimably? Was he gay? Was he a good king and a brilliant general? What made him so great anyway? What was his legacy for Germany and what do Germans think about him today? Come to Potsdam and Sanssouci to find out!

After conclusion of the tour, you can either take a bus to the Potsdam Main Station or maybe buy a ticket for an interior visit of Sanssouci or one of the other palaces. In any case, I will help you make sure your reach your destination!
