Description
Discover the Spreewald from a canoe – relaxed, close to nature, and atmospheric in the evening when the light and landscape become magical.
Come with me on my enchanting canoe tour through the Spreewald!
We start at a leisurely pace in the late morning at Berlin's Ostkreuz station – in less than an hour, the train takes us directly to picturesque Lübbenau, also known as the gateway to the Spreewald.
On a short walk through the historic old town, we encounter the culture of the Sorbs, a Slavic minority with their own language and lively traditions.
After a small cucumber snack – a regional specialty – we climb into our boats and paddle through the UNESCO-protected Spreewald Biosphere Reserve. We discover the fascinating flora and fauna amid tranquil streams and fairytale nature.
After about an hour, we treat ourselves to a sunset drink in a special place – a quiet, magical spot that invites you to linger.
Thanks to the late starting time, you will experience the Spreewald at golden hour – when nature is particularly atmospheric and the crowds of visitors are long gone.
Without your own boat, you can only paddle at this time of day as part of a guided tour – a real experience for anyone who wants to discover the Spreewald in its quietest and most beautiful form.
For the tour, you should have enough stamina to paddle comfortably for about 1.5 hours twice.
You can choose from kayaks for one to four people – ideal for solo travelers, couples, or families with children who want to sit together in the boat.
