Description
We offer mudflat hikes in the beautiful mudflats off Butjadingen. You want to learn about life in the mudflats or the tides. Then we look forward to seeing you.
The tour takes us from Tossens beach about 800 meters into the mudflats – to a small tidal creek and sometimes even to an old boat wreck, which we affectionately call our "shipwreck". There's a lot to discover along the way: various shells, the almost legendary lugworms, the fastest snail in the world, and also beach crabs that like to spend the summer near the beach in the warm mudflats.
We'll test different types of soil under our feet, and if you're brave, you can even sink in really deep! We'll ask exciting questions together: Where does all the water go at low tide? And what's up with the tides? Let's solve this puzzle together!
You'll be accompanied by experienced mudflat and national park guides who will explain everything and be happy to answer your questions.
The tour lasts about 1 1/2 hours and ends at the beach in Tossens. In summer, you can easily walk in socks, and in boots from November to April.
The mudflats in Tossens are mostly solid. So the route is easy to walk.

We can only take children under 14 years old if they're accompanied by an adult.
You'll find us at the small mudflat guide house between Center-Parcs Nordseeküste and Tossens beach on the left. The address is the coastal market. You can park there and just walk towards the beach. Then you'll automatically pass us.

When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
