Day 1: Quito to Cotopaxi National Park

Begin your journey in Quito with a scenic drive south toward Machachi and the northern entrance of Cotopaxi National Park. Explore the Limpiopungo volcanic valley at approximately 3,800 meters above sea level (12,470 ft), surrounded by wild horses, highland birds, and panoramic views of Cotopaxi Volcano.

Take an optional hike around Limpiopungo Lagoon or up toward the José Rivas Refuge, depending on weather, acclimatization, and your preference. Focus on gradual altitude adaptation, photography, soft trekking, and connection with the Andean páramo ecosystem. In the afternoon, continue off the main highway toward Sigchos for an overnight stay in a quiet rural Andean accommodation.

Day 2: Quilotoa and Baños de Agua Santa City

Admire canyon views, agricultural terraces, indigenous communities, and authentic rural landscapes. Choose from optional activities, including horseback riding to the western cloud forest, visiting cheese factories, wine communities, or enjoying a local food experience.
for hike-lovers: 16-km (10-mile) trek in the Chugchilán highlands, part of the Quilotoa Loop region, or take the same route by bicycle. Alternatively, go straight to Quilotoa for a hike to the lagoon. Enjoy lunch in the Quilotoa Community before continuing to Baños de Agua Santa.

Day 3: Waterfall Route and Puyo City

Choose optional adventure activities such as: white-water rafting, the famous “Smuggler’s Trail” trekking route or waterfalls lookouts including Pailón del Diablo, Manto de la Novia, Agoyan
This area is the transition from the high Andes toward Baños de Agua Santa, descending through ecological microclimates to lush rainforest.
By late afternoon or evening, continue toward Puyo in the Amazon basin, where the environment shifts into tropical rainforest.

Day 4: Amazon Rainforest

Connect with a local community, navigate a calm river by canoe, learn about medicinal plants, and enjoy a cacao/chocolate experience. Listen to the sounds of rainforest birds. Stay in Archidona a comfortable jungle lodge that maintains privacy and safety while allowing immersion in nature.

Day 5: Return to Quito

On the final day, enjoy a scenic return to Quito via the Papallacta highlands, with an optional hot springs stop depending on timing and weather. Drop-off in your hotel in Quito or Airport.
