One art per visit, chosen by the day: Shamisen music on Tuesdays, Kabuki Dance (Nihon Buyo) on Thursdays, and Rakugo comic storytelling in English on Fridays. Please check the date you book.
Amazing Japan Lounge is a 12-seat cultural lounge in Nihonbashi-Hamacho, a 3-minute walk from Hamacho Station. The room is small on purpose. You sit a few steps from the stage, close enough to see the performer's fingers on the strings, the turn of a fan, or the change in a storyteller's face.
Your 60 minutes begin with Japanese sweets and tea. Then the performance. On Tuesdays, Kouzan Oyama, a Shamisen World Champion. On Thursdays, Aoi Misho, a master of Nihon Buyo, the classical dance tradition that geisha are trained in. On Fridays, one of our Rakugo storytellers, who perform in English and include a former diplomat. Artists rotate by date.
After the show, the artist stays with you. Ask how the shamisen is tuned, what a gesture in the dance means, or how a centuries-old story still gets its laughs. Hold the instrument or the fan yourself. Then step onto the stage and take photos together before you leave.
No prior knowledge needed. Children are welcome with an adult.

No prior knowledge needed. Suitable for first-time visitors to Japan.
Photos are welcome during the photo session. Please follow the host's guidance on video during the performance.
Children are welcome when accompanied by an adult.
Socks are needed to step onto the stage for the photo session. Spare socks are available at the venue.

When should I book?
To guarantee availability book as soon as possible. Early booking is worth consideration especially if you planning the trip during high season like public holidays or weekends.
Cancellations
This excursion you can cancel with no cost up to 24 hours before the start of the trip. If you cancel it after 24 hours or not show up on the excursion you will still be charged the full price of the activity. Being late on pick-up or departure will be considered as not showing up.
