Description

In the old capital of the island - Teguise, the most famous market takes place every Sunday. In its alleys filled with history, dozens of stalls offer the visitor a great variety of local handicrafts and typical products. In the main square, Canarian folklore entertains the market. On Sundays some of the centuries-old houses are turned into museums, bars, restaurants or art galleries with a unique charm. While there you should try the typical Canarian products like cheese, wine, churros and local coffee called leche-leche. Furthermore, take advantage of the unique chance of combining a visit of the Teguise market with the César Manrique Foundation, home and workshop of the brilliant Lanzarotian artist. He's work is particularly impressive for its architecture. Much of this housing, so unique, is integrated into one of the island's longest lava rivers. Natural lava walls and their curious forms were his residence for two decades and inspiration for his creations that made Manrique a unique artist.
