Departing from the Basilica of Fourvière, discover the location of the forum, the nerve center of the city, and learn the history of its foundation as the capital of Gaul. Under the influence of wealthy merchants and politicians, the city expanded on the hilltop.
We will immerse ourselves in Gallo-Roman entertainment by discovering the magnificent theater, the odeon, and the bustling streets around them. This well-preserved site is very large. Stroll through its remains and take possession of the area.
During a walk on the heights offering a splendid view of the city, everyday life is revealed through the remains scattered along the streets. Learn about the importance of water in this culture through the aqueducts, thermal baths, and fountain that can still be admired.
Finally, we will discuss the Roman religion and its very particular relationship with death by observing the mausoleums that were placed along the roadsides, as well as the remains of the Church of Saint-Just, built in the 5th century.
The tour ends at the Minimes - Teatro Romano funicular.
