Description
A circular hiking route through vineyards and volcanoes that ends with a tasting of two wines. Hiking and wine tourism go hand in hand to discover a landscape declared an agricultural heritage site by the FAO.
Discover La Geria on a circular hiking route through volcanic vineyards, where holes planted in black ash tell the story of thousands of years of winegrowing. Accompanied by a local guide, you will walk along paths surrounded by stone plinths, learning how the vines survive the arid soil and the trade winds.
We start by walking through traditional vineyards, learning about the cultivation of vines on volcanic ash. The first part of the route takes us into pure, wild nature, surrounded by vines and volcanoes. We then begin the gradual ascent of Guardilama, one of the highest peaks in Lanzarote. The climb offers sweeping views of the volcanoes of Timanfaya National Park and the entire protected landscape of La Geria. After a short break at the top of Guardilama and before beginning the descent, we discover how it is possible to grow vines even inside a volcano crater.
In this second part of the tour, the landscape and views change; we move to the eastern slope with views of the coast, the area of Los Ajaches and Fuerteventura. The final stretch of the tour takes us back through vineyards, back to the heart of the La Geria valley. Here we will visit Bodegas Rubicón, which will end with a tasting of local wine inside the winery.
