Description
Travel from Fairbanks to the Arctic Circle via the Dalton Highway, with scenic viewpoints and photo stops along the way, then a northern lights hunt on the return after dark.
Travel from Fairbanks to the Arctic Circle on a full-day winter trip along the Dalton Highway, one of the most remote and northerly roads in on Earth. This route carries you steadily north as forest thins and the landscape opens toward Alaska’s far north.
The day includes planned scenic stops and viewpoints along the Dalton Highway, with time to step out for photos and short walks. A stop at the Arctic Circle sign marks your crossing of 66°33′ north latitude before beginning the return south.
Groups are limited to seven guests, with a guaranteed window seat for everyone. The pace is unhurried, with regular breaks and flexibility for conditions. You’ll travel in a comfortable, fully winter-equipped all-wheel-drive van, with snacks, water, and hot drinks provided.
The return trip takes place after dark for a northern lights hunt. Aurora viewing depends on weather and solar activity and cannot be guaranteed. This experience is mostly road-based and includes only short walks, with no strenuous hiking. Total duration is approximately 12–14 hours, including pickup and drop-off in the Fairbanks area.
