Day 1: Addis Ababa – Semera – Hamdela Camp
You will take a morning flight from Addis Ababa to Semera, enjoying aerial views of the Ethiopian highlands. Upon arrival, your guide will meet you and begin the drive toward the Danakil Depression. The landscape gradually changes from green highlands to arid desert terrain with volcanic features. . By late afternoon, you reach Hamdela, a base camp surrounded by vast salt flats.
Day 2: Dallol – Salt Mountains – Erta Ale
After an early breakfast, you drive to Dallol, one of the hottest and lowest places on Earth. You will explore its colorful mineral formations, bubbling springs, and acid pools that create a surreal landscape. The tour continues to the salt mountains and traditional salt mining areas where Afar workers cut and transport salt blocks by camel caravans. You will also visit Lake Assale, known for its vast white salt plains.
Day 3: Erta Ale – Semera – Addis Ababa
Early in the morning, you will revisit Erta Ale to observe the lava activity at sunrise. After breakfast, you descend from the volcano and begin the return journey through the desert. The drive back to Semera offers another chance to enjoy the stark beauty of the Danakil landscape. You will then catch a flight back to Addis Ababa. Upon arrival, you will transfer to Triple E Hotel for relaxation.
Day 4: Addis Ababa – Jinka – Turmi (via Mursi & Hamer)
You will fly from Addis Ababa to Jinka in the morning. After arrival, you drive through Mago National Park to visit the Mursi people, known for their distinctive lip plates. The journey continues through scenic landscapes toward Turmi. On the way, you encounter the Hamer community, famous for their traditional hairstyles and cultural ceremonies.
Day 5: Dassanech and Karo Tribes
In the morning, you travel toward the Omo River region. You will visit the Dassanech people, who live near the riverbanks and practice a semi-nomadic lifestyle. Their villages are constructed with simple materials adapted to the harsh environment. Later, you continue to meet the Karo tribe, known for their elaborate body painting and artistic expression.
Day 6: Turmi – Konso – Arba Minch
After breakfast, you depart Turmi and drive toward Konso. You will visit the Konso village, recognized for its terraced agriculture and cultural heritage. The Konso people are known for their unique stone-walled settlements and traditions. After exploring the village, you continue to Arba Minch. The route offers scenic views of mountains and valleys. Overnight stay at Dorze Lodge.
Day 7: Dorze Village – Lake Chamo – Addis Ababa
In the morning, you visit the Dorze village, famous for its bamboo houses and weaving culture. You will learn about their traditional lifestyle and craftsmanship.Afterward, head to Lake Chamo for a boat trip. The lake is home to crocodiles, hippos, and a variety of bird species. Later, return to Addis Ababa by flight, concluding your journey.
