Calling all horse lovers! This 4-hour experience starts at Balderas Horse Racing Club / Balderas Stable in Addis Ababa. You’ll get a close-up introduction to the horse stables, meet the horses, see where they are cared for, learn about their breeds and daily routines.

Then saddle up for a 1-hour guided ride through the Balderas trails, with experienced instructors helping both beginners and confident riders enjoy a safe, beautiful ride. After the ride, we slow down with an authentic Ethiopian coffee tasting / ceremony, where you’ll roast beans, smell the aromas, and sip coffee brewed in traditional jebena style.

Next, jump into the car for a scenic city drive through Addis Ababa: passing through Balderas neighborhood, iconic landmarks, vibrant markets, and leafy avenues. Learn about the local horse-riding culture, how stables like Balderas and other equestrian clubs operate, what going back decades Balderas used to mean for the city, and why many stables were once central to Addis’ social life.
