Gheralta: 6-Day Tigray Trekking Adventure

Day 1: Adigrat – Seheta
Meet your guide in Adigrat and begin trekking through farmland and mountain ridges to Seheta village. Enjoy panoramic views and a traditional coffee ceremony.
Trek: 4–5 hrs | Difficulty: Moderate

Day 2: Seheta – Gohagot
Trek to Gohagot village and visit an ancient rock-hewn church such as Gohagot Medhane Alem Church. Enjoy an evening of cultural interaction with locals.
Trek: 5–6 hrs | Difficulty: Moderate–Challenging

Day 3: Gohagot – Shimbti
Continue across scenic highlands to Shimbti. Visit Shimbti Mariam Church and enjoy optional cooking experiences.

Day 4: Shimbti – Edega Arbi
Descend into a peaceful valley and experience rural life with local farmers. Overnight with a host family.

Day 5: Edega Arbi – Hawzen (Gheralta)
Trek toward Hawzen, gateway to Gheralta. Optionally, visit Abreha Atsbeha Church.
Trek: 5–6 hrs | Difficulty: Moderate–Strenuous

Day 6: Gheralta Churches – Departure
Explore famous rock-hewn churches, including Abuna Yemata Guh, Mariam Korkor, and Daniel Korkor. Transfer to Mekelle or return to Adigrat.
