Discover the historic city of Gondar and trek through the Simien Mountains on a 4-day adventure from Addis Ababa. See Gelada monkeys, visit the Jinbar Waterfall, and explore ancient castles.
Day 1: Gondar City Tour

Fly from Addis Ababa to Gondar Airport. Be picked up from the airport and transferred to your hotel. After a short stay at your hotel and finishing check-in, embark on a city tour of Gondar.

Visit historical sites like the Fasil Ghebbi (Royal Enclosure) and the various castles built by Emperor Fasiladas and his descendants. Continue with visits to churches, such as the famous Debre Birhan Selassie Church with its intricate murals, and other landmarks like the Qusquam Church.

Day 2: Limalimo Lodge and Hike

Drive from Gondar to Debark, register at the park headquarters, and proceed to Limalimo Lodge. Begin your hike, which can be a loop that takes you down to a viewpoint like Queen Elizabeth Recreation Stop and back up to the lodge.

In the afternoon, continue on to a viewpoint like Ras Amba, or a shorter hike, depending on your fitness level. Enjoy the views and the scenery as you trek through the unique Afroalpine habitat. Return to Limalimo Lodge for your overnight stay.

Day 3: Simien National Park

Drive into the Simien National Park. Drive 2 hours to the trek start point from Limalimo Lodge. Start to hike for 6 hours. The hike offers stunning views over the foothills some 800 meters below and the chance to see large troops of Gelada monkeys, which are endemic to the Ethiopian Highlands. The trek goes through highland grasslands and heather forests.

Arrive at Sankaber campsite (approx. 3,250m) to be met by your supplies and camp staff. Enjoy dinner and the sunset views.

Day 4: Jinbar Waterfall and Return

Trek to Jinbar Waterfall, a 3 to 4-hour hike to the 545m drop from the top to the bottom of the valley. The trekking is flat for about 2 hours, then it goes all the way down to the waterfall. This trek is considered to have the most spectacular views of all the Simien Mountains range. You will have the chance to see the endemic Menelik bushback, Gelada baboon, and Ethiopian wolf.

In the afternoon, drive back to Gondar Airport to catch your flight back to Addis Ababa or to your hotel.
